The mission of Make Way for Ducklings Nursery School and Kindergarten is to provide an atmosphere in which children learn in an environment that supports each individual child and their families needs, in a warm an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Make Way for Ducklings

Very big on little people. The first few sparks of interest generated by a caring teacher can last a lifetime. We accept children on an enrolling admission beginning at the age of 2.9 through the age of 6 as regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

Our Staff

Understands that all families are unique! We cater to the individual needs of our families while respecting their quality time at home with their children. The staff is a very veteran staff. There is little or no turnover amongest staff. The average staff member has been with MWFD for ten-twenty eight years and the program has been directed by Ann DeNucci Rogalski since established in 1981.

Program Development

Make Way for Ducklings, (hereafter referred to as M.W.F.D.), opened in 1981 under the directorship of Ann DeNucci Rogalski. Ann has her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College and is supported by a qualified staff each of whom meets the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and care criteria. The Department of Early Education and Care is located at 1441 Main Street, Springfield MA 01103 and can be reached by calling 413-788-8401.

Our Philosophy

M.W.F.D. philosophy is to foster each child’s development to his or her full potential: cognitively, emotionally, physically and socially. This goal is accomplished by providing a warm and stimulating environment in which children can learn and grow. At M.W.F.D. children are helped to build self-esteem, to exercise self-control, and to learn to interact with their peers and teachers, as individuals and in-group situations. Hands-on experiences are provided in and out of the classroom. The enriched curriculum includes field trips and special programming in the areas of physical education and music. Areas covered in the curriculum are outlined in the progress reports.
